Efforts begin to address flooding issues in Narlıköy
The accumulation of rainwater from the foothills of the Rhodope Mountains, combined with inadequate stream beds and an undersized culvert beneath the main road, has posed significant challenges for Narlıköy residents for years.
To mitigate flooding and water overflow issues, the Eastern Macedonia and Thrace Regional Administration has launched stream rehabilitation and infrastructure improvement projects.
On-Site Inspections and Consultations
Today, Eastern Macedonia and Thrace Regional Advisor Rıdvan Molla İsa, along with Regional Council Member Ahmet Osman Pehlivan and Yassıköy Mayor Caner İmam, visited Narlıköy to assess ongoing work.
Following the visit, Rıdvan Molla İsa shared an update on social media, stating:
“Today, as part of the Rodopi Regional Administration, we inspected and discussed the expansion of the culvert under the Narlıköy main road and the construction of protective stream walls alongside Yassıköy Mayor Caner İmam.”
The planned improvements are expected to significantly reduce the flooding and overflow issues that have plagued the community for years. Efforts are underway in collaboration with the regional administration and local municipality, with the goal of completing the projects as swiftly as possible.
