Kinsmen flock to the Eid al-Fitr ceremony at the Turkish Consulate General
On the occasion of Eid al-Fitr, a Eid al-Fitr ceremony was organised at the Consulate General of Türkiye in Komotini.
An Eid al-Fitr ceremony was organised at the Consulate General of Türkiye in Komotini on the occasion of Eid al-Fitr. On the first day of Eid al-Fitr (Wednesday, 10 April), thousands of compatriots from the provinces of Evros, Komotini, Xanthi and abroad attended the Eid al-Fitr ceremony held in the garden of the Consulate General.
The guests were welcomed by the Consul General of Türkiye in Komotini, Aykut Ünal and his wife İlayda Ünal, as well as the consulate staff.
The ceremony was attended by Hüseyin Zeybek, MP for Xanthi, Özgür Ferhat, MP for Komotini, İbrahim Şerif, President of the Advisory Board Committee of the Turkish Minority of Western Thrace and Mufti of Komotini, Mustafa Trampa Mufti of Xanthi, Çiğdem Asafoğlu President of the Friendship Equality Peace (FEP) Party, Rıdvan Hacı Mehmet and İrfan Hacıgene, Regional Vice Presidents of Eastern Macedonia Thrace, Rıdvan Mola İsa and Salih Yörük, State Assembly members Ahmet Osman Pehlivan, Ahmet Kasap, Fatih İsmailko and İbrahim Amuçka, Mayor of Kozlukebir Erdem Hüseyin, Mayor of Mustafçova Ahmet Kurt, Mayor of Yassıköy Caner İmam, Mayor of Şapçı Maronya Apostolos Ioannu, Mayor of Komotini Yannis Garanis, municipal councillors from the minority and heads and managers of minority organisations and institutions attended.
On the same day, Eid al-Fitr ceremonies were also organised in other minority institutions.
The traditional Eid al-Fitr ceremony organised at the premises of the Komotini Turkish Youth Union together with the representatives of other minority institutions and organisations was attended by a large number of compatriots.
