Turkish Consul General Aykut Ünal joins fans for World Cup Qualifier Night in Gümülcine
Türkiye’s Consul General in Gümülcine, Aykut Ünal, joined members of the Western Thrace Fenerbahçe Supporters Association for a night of football and community engagement, underscoring the strong cultural ties between Türkiye and the Turkish minority in the region.
Accompanied by his wife, İlayda Ünal, Consul General Ünal visited the association on Tuesday evening, March 31. The couple shared dinner with members in a warm and informal setting before collectively watching a football clash.
The gathering coincided with the 2026 FIFA World Cup European Qualifiers play-off final, where Türkiye national football team faced Kosovo national football team in a high-stakes encounter. Fans watched the match together, celebrating a pivotal moment as Türkiye secured qualification for the World Cup.
