Capacity at Yassıhöyük dam increased thanks to Erdem Hüseyin's initiatives
Erdem Hüseyin, the Mayor of Kozlukebir Municipality, made a request to the authorities of the Regional Directorate of Eastern Macedonia Thrace (DMT) to increase the water capacity of the dam due to the drought in the region and this request was taken into consideration by the authorities of the EMT Regional Directorate and the water capacity sent from the dam was increased from 110 cubic metres per hour to 250 cubic metres per hour.
Making a written statement on the subject, Mayor Erdem Hüseyin noted the following:
"Kurcalı "Kuruçayı" has almost dried up due to the intense drought. We informed the State of Eastern Macedonia and Thrace that the 110 cubic metres of water per hour sent from the Yassıhöyük dam is insufficient and that the water should be increased. The State Administration, which responded positively to our request, immediately came to the region and increased the water capacity from 110 cubic metres per hour to 250 cubic metres per hour. They also informed us that this capacity can be further increased in case of insufficient water when the irrigation period of the fields starts in the coming months. We thank the State Administration as Kozlukebir Municipality."
On the other hand, upon the aforementioned request, EMT Vice President Nikos Efkarpidis, DMT Regional Vice President Rıdvan Hacı Mehmet, EMT Regional Vice President Rıdvan Molla İsa, EMT Regional President Councillor Ahmet Osman Pehlivan, Deputy Mayor of Kozlukebir Municipality Özkan Yusuf and Deputy Mayor of Kozlukebir Region Sadettin Mustafa visited the dam area and made inspections.
