“This Tournament Keeps a Legacy Alive”
During the award ceremony, GAT President Eren Sait addressed attendees, stating:
“Tonight is not only about the final of a football tournament. We are here to honor and remember a great leader who gave voice to his people—Dr. Sadık Ahmet.”
Highlighting Ahmet’s courage and steadfastness in the face of oppression, Sait remarked:
“He was not only a doctor but a symbol of resistance. He said, ‘I am a Turk,’ and faced trial for it, yet never backed down. His bravery continues to inspire not just Western Thrace’s Turks, but oppressed people everywhere. This tournament is a way to carry forward his legacy. It’s a celebration of unity through sport.”
Sait concluded by thanking all organizations, institutions, and volunteers who contributed to the event, and offered heartfelt remembrance:
“We remember Dr. Sadık Ahmet with mercy, gratitude, and longing.”
