13 arrested for traffic code violations in Eastern Macedonia and Thrace

A total of 13 people were arrested between April 14 and 19, 2025, across Xanthi, Kavala, and Evros, as part of traffic safety checks conducted by the General Regional Police Directorate of Eastern Macedonia and Thrace.
The arrests were made during coordinated operations targeting dangerous driving behaviors. Specifically:
In Xanthi, six Greek nationals and one foreign national were arrested by officers from the Traffic Department of Xanthi, the Border Guard Department, the Crime Investigation Unit, and the DIAS motorcycle patrol team. They were found driving five private cars and two motorcycles without a valid driver's license.
In Kavala and Thassos, three Greek nationals were arrested. Two were caught driving without a license by officers of the Nestos, Paggaio, and Thassos police departments, while the third was found driving under the influence of alcohol.
In Alexandroupoli, two Greek nationals were arrested by the Traffic Police and Crime Investigation Unit for driving without a license.
On the Alexandroupoli–Orestiada National Road, one foreign national was stopped by Didymoteicho Border Guard officers and arrested for driving without a license.
Authorities continue their efforts to improve road safety by identifying and penalizing high-risk behaviors, especially unlicensed driving and impaired driving.
