22 arrested for drug offenses in Eastern Macedonia and Thrace
As part of targeted operations to combat the spread of narcotics, police in Eastern Macedonia and Thrace arrested 22 individuals between August 1 and August 6, 2025. The arrests were carried out by officers from the Police Directorates of Dedeağaç, Rhodope, İskeçe, Kavala, and Drama.
The suspects include 17 Greek nationals and 5 foreign nationals, against whom 18 separate case files have been prepared for violations of drug laws.
According to police reports:
In Meriç, five Greek nationals and one foreign national were arrested.
In Rhodope, three Greek nationals and four foreign nationals were arrested.
In İskeçe, four Greek nationals were arrested.
In Kavala, three Greek nationals were arrested.
In Drama, one Greek national was arrested.
In Kilkis, one person was arrested in cooperation with Goumenissa Police.
The arrests followed inspections conducted at six houses, one narcotics hiding spot, one vehicle, and during searches of suspects’ belongings. Authorities seized:
15.26 grams of cocaine
57.94 grams of raw cannabis
3 grinders
1 cannabis cigarette
2 narcotic pills
A small quantity of synthetic cannabis
Cash
Additionally, police confiscated two forged identity cards (from Bulgaria and Poland) found on one of the foreign suspects, who now also faces forgery charges.
The case files have been submitted to the competent Prosecutors. The investigations were conducted by the Alexandroupolis Anti-Drug and Crime Investigation Department, the Rhodope, İskeçe, Kavala, and Drama Crime Investigation Departments, and the Paggaio Police Department.
