Olympiacos–Fenerbahce EuroLeague game cancelled amid severe weather in Athens
The EuroLeague Round 14 matchup between Olympiacos BC and Fenerbahce Beko, scheduled for Thursday evening at the Peace & Friendship Stadium, was cancelled after a powerful storm system struck the wider Athens–Piraeus area.
Hours before tipoff, flash floods and heavy traffic congestion were reported across the capital, with streets and drainage channels overwhelmed by continuous rainfall. The worsening conditions prompted Alternate Sports Minister Yannis Vroutsis to officially call off the game, notifying both clubs immediately.
In its announcement, EuroLeague Basketball said it “will evaluate with the affected teams the best possible options to reschedule the game based on available dates,” adding that further details will be provided in the coming days.
