Panathinaikos coach Ergin Ataman has warned he will leave the club if the team fails to win either the EuroLeague or the Greek championship this season, despite having one year remaining on his contract.
Panathinaikos coach Ergin Ataman has warned he will leave the club if the team fails to win either the EuroLeague or the Greek championship this season, despite having one year remaining on his contract.
The Turkish coach made the statement amid growing internal pressure following consecutive defeats to Olympiacos and Armani Milan, which sparked criticism of both Ataman and his players. After the loss to Olympiacos, he singled out specific players, while he later took responsibility for the defeat against the Italian team.
“At the end of the season, if we haven’t won the EuroLeague or the Greek league, I will leave Athens,” Ataman said, adding that he still has “great trust” in his players and wants to challenge them further.
