Olympiakos secures Champions League spot after PAOK slip
Olympiacos F.C. secured second place in the Greek Super League and a spot in the Champions League qualifiers after PAOK FC were held to a 2-2 draw by Panathinaikos F.C. on Sunday.
This was the last Greek league home game for Panathinaikos in their historic home ground of “Apostolos Nikolaidis.” Next season they will host their games at the Olympic Stadium of Athens, while as of the summer of 2027 they are supposed to move to their new stadium currently under construction at Votanikos.
Olympiakos drew 1-1 away to champions AEK Athens F.C., with Rodinei scoring before Aboubakary Koita equalised late on.
PAOK looked set to overtake Olympiakos after taking a 2-0 lead at Panathinaikos through Magomed Ozdoev and Anestis Mythou, but the hosts fought back with second-half goals from Adam Cerin and Vicente Taborda.
The result left AEK top of the playoff standings on 72 points, followed by Olympiakos on 66, PAOK on 64 and Panathinaikos on 52.
Elsewhere, Panserraikos F.C. and AEL Larissa were relegated from the Super League, with Kalamata F.C. and Iraklis F.C. set to replace them next season.
