Yannis Kavvadas appointed as acting head of OPEKEPE
Yannis Kavvadas, Director General of Financial and Technical Services at the Independent Authority for Public Revenue (AADE), has been appointed as the acting head of OPEKEPE (Greek Payment and Control Agency for Guidance and Guarantee Community Aid).
According to the multi-bill submitted to Parliament, Kavvadas will serve in this position on a temporary basis. At the same time, by decision of the Ministry of Rural Development and Food, personnel transfers and temporary assignments within OPEKEPE have been suspended.
Despite recent delays and formal notices sent to the agency, it was announced that OPEKEPE payments will proceed as scheduled, with disbursements expected to begin intensively from the end of August through early September.
Ministry sources stated that the goal is to “clean up” the organization. For this reason, a senior official from AADE has been assigned to lead, while a special audit team continues to investigate irregular subsidy payments. The ultimate aim is to recover unlawfully distributed agricultural subsidies.
