Tragic end for missing British Woman in Kavala – Autopsy results revealed

Burda, who vanished on August 1 under unclear circumstances, was found dead nearly a month later on a small private islet known as Fidonisi, located about 25 miles from where she was last seen. Her body was identified through her swimsuit and surgical markers from a previous operation.

The Disappearance

On the day of her disappearance, Michelle had gone to the beach with her husband, Chris. He reportedly fell asleep on a sunbed, and when he woke up, his wife was missing. All her belongings – glasses, towel, and medication – were left behind. Despite immediate efforts to locate her, the initial searches yielded no results.

Autopsy Findings

According to the forensic report conducted by pathologist Nikos Kifnidis, the cause of death was confirmed as drowning. No other injuries were detected, and foul play has been ruled out.

Husband’s Criticism of Greek Authorities

Michelle’s husband has expressed deep grief and frustration over the handling of the case, criticizing the Greek coast guard for delays and lack of modern resources in the search operation.

“It should not have taken them three hours just to file a missing person report,” he said, adding that the use of drones or search dogs might have led to an earlier discovery of his wife’s body. He also suggested that authorities showed indifference because his wife was a foreign national.

Struggles with Mental Health

Burda had reportedly suffered from depression and anxiety, factors her husband believes may have contributed to her tragic fate. He also blamed the British healthcare system for failing to provide timely access to the necessary medication.

“The problem with depression is that it deceives you. People may look fine when they are not,” he explained.

Married for 36 years, Chris described the loss as life-changing:
“Unfortunately, I fell asleep in the sun, and when I woke up, I realized something was terribly wrong. Since then, my life has changed forever.”
