16-year-old footballer in critical condition in Kavala ICU after head injury
The teenager, who plays for Vyronas Kavala, was injured during the opening match of the Kavala Football Clubs Association championship. In the early minutes of the game, he fell while contesting a ball near the touchline and struck the back of his head against the concrete wall of the stadium stands, losing consciousness.
The stadium doctor immediately provided first aid before an EKAB ambulance arrived at the scene. The player was initially taken to the local Health Center and was subsequently transferred urgently to Kavala General Hospital.
According to ERTnews correspondent Kostas Loukoumis, the teenager remains hospitalized in the ICU, with the coming hours considered critical for his condition.
The incident has shocked the management of Vyronas and football clubs across the Kavala regional unit. In response, all football associations in the area are suspending their activities and matches for the coming period.
