"The 10 islands will benefit from the agreement both all spring and all summer" announces Greek PM

Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis made evaluations on the agenda to the state television ERT yesterday.

Mr Mitsotakis first noted that Greece's request for the purchase of F-35s from the US has matured and said that he expects the US to respond to this request soon.

"WE WILL NOT BLOCK THE PURCHASE OF F-16S"

Answering a question about Türkiye's request to purchase F-16s from the US, Mitsotakis said, "We neither try to prevent this, nor do we have the means to influence the sale of defence equipment to another country."

Stating that he will visit the US in two weeks to attend a forum on investment in New York, Mitsotakis said that the opportunities in Greece will be introduced to investors in the US.

VISA FACILITATION FOR TURKISH TOURISTS

Emphasising the recent normalisation of relations between Türkiye and Greece, Mitsotakis stated that the application, which will provide visa convenience for Turkish tourists to enter 10 islands, will start in March.

"The 10 islands will benefit from the agreement both all spring and all summer, and I believe that this agreement will be permanent," Mitsotakis said.

Stating that the dialogue between the two countries has been improved in order to increase the trade between Türkiye and Greece, Mitsotakis said that the cooperation between the two countries has also improved in the irregular migrant problem.

THE SITUATION IN THE AEGEAN

Mr. Mitsotakis pointed out that the geography in the Aegean creates a very complex structure and said the following about the disputes in the Aegean:

"I don't think this issue is going to be resolved overnight, but we are going to approach it in good faith, we are going to be clear on our red lines, which every Greek government has set when they talk about these issues. On the other hand, we will also benefit from the general optimistic mood, which I would say has already had a significant positive impact in itself."
