Türkiye's exports to Greece reach $2.6 billion in nine months
Türkiye’s exports to its seven neighboring countries rose 3.2% year on year to $20.93 billion in the first nine months of 2026, with Greece ranking third among Türkiye’s neighboring export markets at approximately $2.6 billion.
Türkiye’s exports to its land-border neighbors — Azerbaijan, Bulgaria, Georgia, Iraq, Iran, Syria and Greece — reached $20.93 billion between January and September 2026, up from $20.27 billion during the same period last year, according to data from the Turkish Trade Ministry compiled by Anadolu Agency.
Greece accounted for approximately $2.6 billion of Türkiye’s exports during the period, making it the country’s third-largest neighboring export market.
Türkiye’s total exports, meanwhile, increased 5.2% year on year to $210.97 billion in the January-September period.
IRAQ LEADS NEIGHBORING MARKETS
Iraq ranked first among Türkiye’s neighboring export destinations with approximately $6.7 billion in exports during the nine-month period.
Bulgaria followed with around $3.9 billion, while Greece ranked third with $2.6 billion. Georgia came fourth with approximately $2.2 billion.
The figures highlight the significant role of Greece in Türkiye’s trade with its neighboring countries and underline the continued volume of economic exchanges between the two countries.
Among Türkiye’s neighboring markets, Georgia recorded the strongest annual increase in exports at approximately 19.6%, followed by Syria at 19% and Bulgaria at 16%.
CHEMICAL PRODUCTS LEAD EXPORTS TO NEIGHBORING COUNTRIES
Chemicals and chemical products represented the largest export category in Türkiye’s trade with its seven neighboring countries, generating $3.89 billion in exports during the January-September period.
The sector was followed by cereals, pulses, oilseeds and related products with $2.15 billion, while furniture, paper and forest products accounted for $1.63 billion.
Ornamental plants and related products recorded the lowest export value among the listed sectors, at approximately $23.1 million.
GREECE REMAINS A KEY NEIGHBORING TRADE PARTNER
The figures cover Türkiye’s exports to Azerbaijan, Bulgaria, Georgia, Iraq, Iran, Syria and Greece, which are classified as its neighboring countries for the purposes of the calculation.
Trade with Nakhchivan was excluded because no official data was available for the region. Direct official overland trade between Türkiye and Armenia was also not included in the calculation.
