New poll in Greece puts New Democracy at 30.3%, ELAS second
Greece’s ruling New Democracy (ND) party leads the latest national voting estimate with 30.3%, followed by the Greek Left Alliance (ELAS) at 15.9% and PASOK at 12.3%, according to a new Opinion Poll survey conducted for Action24.
The survey was carried out between 7 and 12 October 2026 among 1,005 respondents. The findings also point to a potential nine-party parliament if elections were held under the scenario modelled by the poll.
NEW DEMOCRACY LEADS BY 14.4 POINTS
In the voting estimate, New Democracy recorded 30.3%, maintaining a 14.4-percentage-point lead over ELAS, the political formation associated with former prime minister Alexis Tsipras. PASOK ranked third with 12.3%, 3.6 points behind ELAS.
Compared with the September survey, New Democracy fell from 31% to 30.3%, while ELAS remained unchanged at 15.9%. PASOK rose slightly from 12.1% to 12.3%.
Other parties recorded the following shares in the voting estimate:
Communist Party of Greece (KKE): 7.2%
Greek Solution: 6.8%
Course of Freedom: 5.1%
Hope for Democracy: 4.5%
Voice of Reason: 3.5%
Alliance of Greeks: 3.5%
POLL PROJECTS NINE-PARTY PARLIAMENT
The poll’s projected parliamentary allocation suggests that nine parties could enter parliament. The estimates reported by Greek media assign 122 seats to New Democracy, 48 to ELAS and 37 to PASOK.
The Communist Party of Greece is projected to win 21 seats, Greek Solution 20, Course of Freedom 16 and Hope for Democracy 14. Voice of Reason and Alliance of Greeks are each projected to receive 11 seats.
These figures are projections based on the survey, not actual election results or a guaranteed distribution of parliamentary seats.
COST OF LIVING AND ENERGY COSTS FEATURE PROMINENTLY
The survey also highlighted economic pressures, particularly rising prices and household energy costs.
Concerns included the cost of heating homes and running vehicles during the winter months. Reports on the findings indicated that many respondents were considering cutting back on heating and car use amid pressure on household budgets.
The poll therefore captures both party preferences and public concern about the cost of living as Greece approaches the winter season.
VOTING INTENTION DIFFERS FROM VOTE ESTIMATE
In the survey’s voting-intention figures among valid responses, New Democracy stood at 25.5%, ELAS at 13.3% and PASOK at 10.4%.
The corresponding voting estimates were higher, at 30.3%, 15.9% and 12.3%, respectively. Voting intention reflects respondents’ stated preferences, while a voting estimate uses the polling company’s methodology to project how votes may be distributed.
The findings provide a snapshot of Greek public opinion in October 2026. Party support may change before any future election, and the projected parliamentary composition should not be interpreted as a prediction of a definitive result.
