Poll shows no major shift in political landscape after Thessaloniki Fair

A new opinion poll conducted after the Thessaloniki International Fair (TIF) shows that Greece’s political landscape remains largely unchanged, with the ruling New Democracy (ND) party still leading, but not gaining ground.

The Pulse survey, commissioned by broadcaster Skai, places New Democracy at 24% in voting intention — maintaining a 12.5-point lead over opposition party PASOK, which polls at 11.5%. Compared to July, both parties' support levels remain stable.

Notably, the share of undecided voters has increased to 17%, signaling lingering uncertainty among the electorate. When these undecided votes are redistributed, ND polls at 29% and PASOK at 14%.

Opposition Fragmented

Support for other parties remained mostly steady:

Course of Freedom: 8.5%

Greek Solution: 7.5%

Communist Party of Greece (KKE): 7%

SYRIZA: 6%

MeRA25 and Voice of Logic: 3% each

Niki: 2.5%

New Left and Democracy Movement: 2% each

Spartans: 1.5%

These figures suggest that no single opposition force is emerging as a strong alternative, and the left-wing space remains divided.

Mixed reaction to government measures

Public opinion is divided over the economic and social measures announced by Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis during the Thessaloniki Fair:

37% said the measures were moving in the right direction but not sufficient

7% said they were both correct and sufficient

45% viewed them as wrong or inadequate

Interestingly, younger voters and undecided groups responded more positively, which analysts suggest could be a sign of long-term potential for the government if policy implementation aligns with public expectations.

Speculation around Tsipras comeback

The poll also sheds light on growing speculation that former Prime Minister Alexis Tsipras may return to the political scene by launching a new party. According to Pulse:

20% of respondents said they would view such a move positively or with interest

Among SYRIZA voters, that figure jumps to 76%

While no formal announcement has been made, this level of support could reshape the dynamics on the left, especially as SYRIZA struggles with declining numbers.
