Parents protest Government over school deficiencies in Greece

Frustrated by severe shortcomings in Greece’s public schools, parents are taking action. The Attica Parents' Federation has announced a protest in front of the Ministry of Interior on Wednesday, February 12, at 2:30 PM to demand urgent solutions.
"We Are Covering Expenses That Should Be the State’s Responsibility!"
Parents argue that schools lack proper funding, forcing them to pay out of pocket for essential supplies such as cleaning materials, stationery, toilet paper, sports, and art equipment. They strongly condemned the government’s failure to meet these basic needs.
Parents' Strong Reaction:
"It is not the responsibility of parents or teachers to cover these costs! Education is a duty of the state and local authorities. If this situation continues, the quality of education will depend solely on families' financial conditions. Will education be left to charity donations? We completely reject this!"
What Are the Parents Demanding?
- Modern and safe school buildings
- Regular maintenance and renovation
- Earthquake-resistant structures and proper electrical systems
- Fully equipped classrooms and laboratories
- Sufficient cleaning and meal service staff
- Parents insist that their demands are legitimate and urgent, stressing that the government must act immediately.
"We are already paying taxes for these services. In 2025, our children deserve schools that meet modern standards!"
With a large turnout expected, the February 12 protest is set to make a strong statement. Stay tuned for further updates on this developing issue.
