With the public consultation period for the new Traffic Law set to end on January 24, stricter penalties for serious traffic violations are drawing significant attention. Among these, severe consequences have been introduced for offenses such as driving under the influence of alcohol. The updated measures include:

0.50-0.80 g/l blood alcohol level: €150 fine and a 20-day license suspension.
0.80-1.10 g/l blood alcohol level: €700 fine and a 90-day license suspension.
Above 1.10 g/l blood alcohol level: €1,200 fine, a six-month license suspension, two months of imprisonment, and license plate revocation for 10 days to six months.
For repeat offenses, penalties increase significantly:

Drivers caught a second time within one year face fines between €1,000 and €2,000 and up to a two-year license suspension.
A third offense within five years will result in a €2,000 fine and a seven-year revocation of the driver’s license.
Additionally, vehicles of drivers caught under the influence will be impounded and removed from circulation.
