Neighborhood nannies program expands nationwide by June 2025

The "Neighborhood Nannies" program will be expanded to all municipalities across Greece starting in June 2025, as announced by the Minister of Social Cohesion and Family, Sofia Zacharaki. This initiative aims to support families with young children by providing financial assistance for childcare services.
Since its inception, the program has benefited 950 families, surpassing the initial target of 450. Parents who are fully employed receive a voucher worth 500 euros to cover childcare costs, while part-time workers and unemployed parents receive 300 euros. With the program now integrated into the EU's ESPA funding framework and securing a budget of 100 million euros, the government is considering further increasing the voucher amount in its next phase of nationwide implementation.
Additionally, Minister Zacharaki highlighted the "My Home II" program, noting that 120,000 individuals have already applied for eligibility certification, with approximately 58,500 having received approval. To accelerate the process, the government is introducing an automated system that will allow applicants to receive their certification almost instantly.
The Minister also announced the imminent launch of the revamped "Renovate-Rent" program, which will increase subsidies from 49% to 60% and raise the maximum grant amount from 8,000 euros to 13,500 euros. Furthermore, a new initiative funded by the Recovery and Resilience Fund will be introduced in March, focusing on the renovation of homes and professional spaces for People with Disabilities, with a primary emphasis on enhancing accessibility.
Lastly, Minister Zacharaki introduced the "Family Caregiver" program, which is expected to be implemented by the end of the year. This initiative will provide in-home assistance to family members in need of support, reinforcing the government's commitment to social welfare and family care.
