Mitsotakis to ND Parliamentary Group: Elections in 2027 with me on the frontline
Kyriakos Mitsotakis sent a clear message that he would remain at the helm of the government, addressing the New Democracy (ND) parliamentary group, while also stating that elections would take place at the end of the four-year term in 2027. In discussing the recent train disaster in Tempi, he remarked: “It is time for the truth to strike back. As more details come to light, we realize that there was an attempt to manipulate public opinion. The time for justice is near and it will be delivered as the Constitution dictates,” attacking the opposition.
“Elections in 2027, with ND as the winner”
The Prime Minister emphasized that the elections would be held at the end of the term, in 2027, and sent a strong message that he would be "at the front line."
“Elections will take place at the end of the four-year term, in 2027, and they will be victorious with me at the front line. As long as we believe in it ourselves first,” he said to resounding applause.
He then directed his attacks toward the opposition, calling them an "inconsistent hodgepodge united by one goal: to overthrow the government without a plan for what will follow."
“Our duty is to deconstruct with evidence the baseless accusations. Silence is not golden!” he added, later stating, “We must expose populism at every opportunity and remind people of the consequences it has brought to countries that succumbed to it. We must counter it with solutions rooted in realism and responsibility.”
Tempi Train Disaster
Mitsotakis also addressed the issue of the Tempi train disaster, saying, “The propaganda of the opposition and certain media outlets created confusion around the great national tragedy.”
He highlighted positive developments such as the increase in the minimum wage, saying: “There were also positive pieces of news, such as the increase in the minimum wage. The average wage has now surpassed 1,400 euros. We must also emphasize at every opportunity that the country has unemployment lower than Sweden’s.”
Vezyropoulos as Secretary of ND
Kyriakos Mitsotakis also announced his proposal for the position of the secretary of the New Democracy party: Apostolos Vezyropoulos. “He is well-liked, hardworking, and you all know him,” Mitsotakis said.
