A large wildfire erupted on the afternoon of April 28, 2025, in the Keramoti region of Kavala, Greece. The fire reportedly began in the Monastiraki area and rapidly spread toward the Keramoti coastline due to strong winds. Flames came dangerously close—within 400 meters—to a military recreational facility. Firefighters were deployed to contain the blaze and prevent further spread. Thick smoke was visible even from Thassos Island.
