A 3.9 magnitude earthquake struck off the Aegean island of Amorgos in the early hours of Monday (15-09-2025), authorities said. There were no reports of injuries or damage.

The Athens Institute of Geodynamics said the epicenter was 14 km south-southwest of Arkesini at a depth of 10.8 km.

Efthymios Lekkas, a geology professor and head of Greece’s Earthquake Planning and Protection Organization, told state broadcaster ERT the tremor was “not at all worrying.”

Greece lies in one of the most seismically active regions in the world, but strong earthquakes rarely cause serious damage or casualties.
