Magnitude 5.4 earthquake strikes southeastern Türkiye
A magnitude 5.4 earthquake struck Türkiye’s southeastern province of Sanliurfa on Thursday morning, sending strong tremors across several provinces, according to the Disaster and Emergency Management Authority (AFAD).
The earthquake was centered in the Karakopru district and occurred at 10:40 a.m. local time.
The tremor was felt in Sanliurfa, Adiyaman, Malatya, Diyarbakir and Gaziantep. Strong shaking was also reported in Diyarbakir.
No adverse situation reported
AFAD said there were no reports of adverse developments following the earthquake in its latest update.
The agency said field assessment operations were continuing in the affected areas to determine whether the earthquake had caused any damage.
The Kandilli Observatory and Earthquake Research Institute separately measured the earthquake at magnitude 5.8.
Authorities continued to monitor the situation following the tremor.
