Karystianou maintains support despite controversy; Tsipras’ rebranding fails to impress

A recent survey highlights a surprising resilience in voter support for Maria Karystianou’s new political party, even after her controversial statements on abortion. Conducted between January 22–26 on a sample of 3,129 respondents, the poll reveals that while her approval rating has declined, her core voter base remains solid.

Key Findings:
Strong Core Support: 75% of potential Karystianou voters say they are unlikely to change their preference.
Declining Image: 48% report a worse opinion of Karystianou compared to previous days, and 70% believe she is not ready for active politics.
Electoral Edge vs. Mitsotakis: Despite mixed opinions, Karystianou is seen as more than twice as likely to beat Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis compared to former PM Alexis Tsipras.
Tsipras Rebranding Struggles: Nearly half of respondents (49%) view his rebranding efforts as irrelevant, while 35% think it is performing worse than expected. Only 14% consider it successful.

Voting Intentions Snapshot:
ND: 26.9%
PASOK: 12.7%
Plefsi Eleftherias: 6.3%
Hellenic Solution: 5.4%
KKE: 5.0%
MeRA25: 3.5%
Voice of Reason: 3.4%
SYRIZA: 3.0%
Democracy Movement: 2.7%
NIKI: 2.0%
New Left: 1%
Other parties: 11.4% – reflecting voter disengagement from mainstream politics.

Analysis:
The survey suggests that Karystianou’s party has carved out a loyal, anti-establishment base, even as her public image suffers. Meanwhile, Tsipras’ attempts to revamp his image appear largely ineffective. Overall, Greek voters are increasingly considering alternatives outside traditional parties, signaling potential shifts in the political landscape ahead of upcoming elections.
