Greek political parties to receive €40.1 million in state funding in 2026

Political parties in Greece will receive a total of €40.16 million in state funding in 2026, according to official figures. The allocation is based on the results of the most recent general elections, with funds distributed proportionally to each party’s share of the vote.

The ruling New Democracy Party (ND) will receive the largest portion of the funding, followed by SYRIZA and PASOK, reflecting their electoral performance.

Breakdown of State Funding Allocation

Based on the approved distribution:

New Democracy (ND): €14,800,294.72

SYRIZA: €7,025,636.38

PASOK: €4,974,785.78

These three parties collectively account for the majority of public financial support allocated to political organizations in Greece for the year.

Funding for Spartans Party Temporarily Blocked

The share allocated to the Spartans party has been temporarily frozen due to an ongoing judicial investigation. Authorities clarified that the funds will only be released if the party receives a final acquittal ruling in its favor.

Until then, the amount earmarked for the Spartans party will remain blocked, in line with legal provisions governing state financing and transparency in political funding.

Political and Financial Significance

The distribution of state funding is widely regarded as a key indicator of political balance and financial strength within Greece’s party system. Public funding plays a crucial role in party operations, campaign preparedness, and organizational sustainability, especially ahead of future electoral cycles.
