Greece recorded the third-worst average flight delays in Europe last year, largely due to outdated air traffic control systems and staff shortages, according to a new Eurocontrol report.

The 2025 report by the European Organisation for the Safety of Air Navigation showed average delays in Greece reached 54 seconds per flight. France topped the list with 114 seconds, followed by Spain at 59 seconds. Germany ranked fourth with 53 seconds, while Bosnia followed at 50 seconds.

The report comes after a January 4 radio frequency malfunction caused a partial shutdown of flights across Greece for several hours. An official probe later attributed the disruption to aging infrastructure rather than external interference.
