Greece: Public sector strike announced for August 28

The Supreme Administration of Greek Civil Servants (ADEDY) has announced a 24-hour nationwide strike in the public sector for Thursday, August 28, in response to the submission of a new Disciplinary Law for Public Employees to the Greek Parliament for a plenary vote.
The ADEDY Executive Committee has called on public sector workers in the Athens metropolitan area to attend a protest at Syntagma Square at 10:00 a.m., while urging local committees across Greece to organize similar strike actions.
In its announcement, ADEDY criticized the bill for:
Criminalizing union, social, and political activities, equating them with common criminal offenses.
Abolishing the second-instance Disciplinary Council and the right of appeal.
Changing the composition of Disciplinary Councils, removing employee and judicial representatives.
Imposing excessively high fines, among other measures.
The union has called for the withdrawal of the bill.
