Greece is reportedly set to purchase "Switchblade" mini unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) from the United States, according to a report by Kathimerini newspaper.
The report states that the Greek Ministry of Defense has decided to acquire these drones, with the decision expected to be presented to the Greek Parliament soon. The "Switchblade" UAVs are slated for use by Greece's Special Operations Command.
This acquisition is based on lessons learned from the ongoing war in Ukraine, and the total cost of the UAVs is estimated to reach $75 million.
On September 15, Greek Defense Minister Nikos Dendias announced that Greece's 20-year defense program had been submitted to Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis and would soon be presented to the relevant parliamentary committee before final approval by the government's Foreign Policy and Defense Council.
