Greek Left Alliance schedules policy conference for early 2027

The Hellenic Left Alliance (ELAS), led by former Greek prime minister Alexis Tsipras, has scheduled a programmatic conference for late January or early February 2027 as it prepares for the next national elections.

The Political Committee of the Hellenic Left Alliance (ELAS) has approved a series of political initiatives for the coming months, including a meeting of its National Council on 21 November and events focusing on justice, the rise of the far right and the Greek economy.

The decisions were taken at a meeting on 16 October, attended by an expanded group of sector heads and members of the party’s organisational office. The meeting followed an address by ELAS president Alexis Tsipras, a briefing by party secretary Miltos Chatzigiannakis and contributions from committee members, according to Greek media outlet EfSyn.

The committee agreed to convene the National Council, the alliance’s highest consultative body, on 21 November 2026.

It also scheduled a November event on justice and the rise of the far right, followed by a December event examining the state of the economy and the national budget.

The alliance’s programmatic conference is expected to take place in late January or early February 2027.

TSIPRAS TO VISIT REGIONS ACROSS GREECE
Tsipras is also expected to begin a series of visits to regions across Greece before the Christmas holidays as the alliance steps up its political outreach.

His next scheduled stop is Thessaly on 19–20 October, according to the report.

In a separate statement following the committee meeting, the alliance said its members and local organisations were already organising events at regional and local levels across the country.

“The change will not come from above. It will come from society,” the statement said, encouraging people interested in participating in the alliance’s activities to register through its official membership platform.

The planned conference and regional visits form part of ELAS’s preparations for the next phase of its political programme, with national elections on the horizon.
