Greece considers pushing forward drilling test south of Crete

In the news of Ta Nea newspaper, citing unnamed sources, it was claimed that the ExxonMobil-Hellenic Energy joint venture was considering the possibility of a direct drilling attempt without moving to 3D if the two-dimensional seismic surveys they carried out in the south of Crete yield a clear result.

According to the report, in this case, the first drilling attempt could be made in 2024 instead of 2025.

Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis announced on 7 November that seismic research will begin to find natural gas in the Peloponnese and southwest of Crete.

In NAVTEX, published by the Hydrographic Department of the Hellenic Navy on 8 November, it was noted that seismic surveys would be conducted in the Ionian Sea and the region to the west and southwest of Crete.
