Government announced the measures to be taken after the fire
In Greece, the government took new measures to combat the problems that may arise after 11 days of fires.
A meeting was held under the chairmanship of Prime Minister Kiryakos Mitsotakis with the participation of the Minister of Environment, Energy and Climate Crisis and Civil Protection to discuss the rehabilitation of the burnt forests in Evros and Parnithas.
In the statement made after the meeting, it was stated that new measures were taken to combat the problems.
Accordingly, it is envisaged that wild animals that survived the fire will be fed specially for the next few months, work will be initiated to combat possible flood disasters that may be encountered after the fires, and the streams in the fire areas will be cleaned.
Over 800 thousand acres of land burnt in Alexandroupoli and Evros
According to the report prepared by the Greek Meteorological Office based on the data of the Copernicus Emergency Management Department of the European Union, approximately 808 thousand acres of land burned until yesterday in the fires that have been continuing in the Evros and Alexandroupoli region since 19 August.
The fire in the region has been largely under control.
