Driver’s license applications in Greece now available online

The new service is the result of a joint initiative by the Ministries of Digital Governance and Infrastructure & Transport, aiming to reduce bureaucracy, increase transparency, and facilitate procedures for both citizens and driving schools.
Initially launched as a pilot program in Crete, the platform saw promising results, with 478 applications submitted digitally during March and April alone. The nationwide rollout is expected to save thousands of citizens time and effort.
Through the platform, users can:
- Generate a learner driver certificate,
- Schedule theoretical and practical driving tests,
- Track the entire license application process step-by-step.
Applicants receive updates via email and SMS at every stage. Additionally, users can authorize driving schools digitally to carry out parts of the application on their behalf.
Three New Digital Services for Vehicle Owners
Starting today, three new digital services are also available to vehicle owners through the gov.gr platform:
- Update vehicle ownership information,
- Declare a vehicle color change,
- Transfer vehicle ownership through inheritance.
All required documents can be uploaded digitally, payments are processed online, and users are kept informed throughout the process. At the final stage, citizens only need to visit their local transport authority office to collect their documents.
