Athens Hosts 12th Annual Walk Against Discrimination
On the occasion of the World Day for the Elimination of Racial Discrimination, March 21, the Greek Forum of Migrants is organizing, for the 12th consecutive year, the Walk Against Discrimination. The event invites all groups affected by racism and discrimination to publicly affirm their commitment to combating all forms of racial injustice and attacks on human dignity.
Participants will gather on Saturday, March 21, at 12:00 PM at Syntagma Square (Tomb of the Unknown Soldier) in Athens.
The 2026 Walk Against Discrimination is held under the Municipality of Athens’s auspices and supported by its Council for the Integration of Migrants and Refugees. Other partners include the Municipality’s Migrant Integration Center (KEM) and the Attica Department for Combating Racist Violence.
Every year, the walk brings together organizations and communities affected by discrimination in Greece—including migrants and refugees, people living with HIV, the elderly, people who use psychoactive substances, those with mental health conditions, and religious minorities—to march together for a fairer, more inclusive society.
The initiative began in 2015 with around 30 organizations and hundreds of participants in Athens. Since then, nine events have been held, coordinated annually by the Organizing Committee of the Walk Against Discrimination. Similar initiatives are also planned in other cities across Greece, with numerous supporting organizations taking part.
