Alco Poll: New Democracy leads strongly as PASOK holds second place

Greece’s ruling New Democracy (ND) party is showing signs of political recovery, according to the latest opinion poll released by Alco on Tuesday. The center-right party garners 25% of voter support (among valid responses), significantly widening the gap with its nearest rival to 14.3 percentage points.

The poll, which does not include vote extrapolations often featured in similar surveys, signals a growing advantage for ND following months of political turbulence and shifting public opinion.

Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis also appears to be regaining personal ground. On the question of who is most qualified to serve as premier, Mitsotakis gained five percentage points compared to the previous month’s Alco poll.

In second place, the center-left PASOK party holds at 14%, maintaining a comfortable lead over other opposition groups. Course of Freedom (Plefsi Eleftherias), led by former parliamentary speaker Zoe Konstantopoulou, slipped to 6%.

Notably, SYRIZA—once the dominant force in the opposition—has dropped to sixth place. It now trails behind both the right-wing Greek Solution (Elliniki Lysi) and the Communist Party (KKE), further underscoring its dramatic decline since losing power.

As Greece moves deeper into 2025, the poll reflects an electorate that remains unsettled but increasingly leaning back toward stability under ND, even as trust in alternatives appears fractured.
