Minimum monthly wage was 650 euros before the current government came to power and increased it to 830 euros, Deputy Labor & Social Insurance Minister Vassilis Spanakis told Skai 100.3 FM.
In a radio interview, the minister said that "when we took over, the average wage was under 1,000 euros and we have raised it to 1,251 euros; in tourism jobs in particular, the average wage has risen even more."
Spanakis said that the Labor Ministry, headed by Minister Domna Michailidou and Deputy Minister Panos Tsakloglou, will next work on collective labor agreements. He also noted that the unemployment rate was over 17% when New Democracy came to power and now it has dropped, heading to a single-digit numeral.
