August ferry bookings from Thessaloniki to NE Aegean and Sporades fully sold out
Ferry services connecting Thessaloniki with the northeastern Aegean and Sporades islands have reached full capacity for August, with July bookings also peaking at 90%, shipping representatives told the Athens-Macedonian News Agency (ANA-MPA) on Monday.
Blue Star Ferries’ Diagoras, which sails every Sunday at 16:00 from Thessaloniki to Limnos, Lesvos, Chios, Samos (Vathy), Patmos, and Leros, has been operating the route since 2021. According to Lina Miliadou, agent for the company in Kavala and Thessaloniki, ticket prices have remained unchanged, while vehicle and cabin reservations have sold out since the start of the season on June 8. She expects the same trend for 2025.
Limnos remains the top destination, accounting for over 50% of passenger traffic among the northeastern Aegean islands served by the Diagoras, which carries up to 1,462 passengers and 274 vehicles.
SeaJets has also confirmed full bookings for August on its Thessaloniki–Sporades routes. “Skopelos leads with 45% of bookings, followed by Skiathos at 35%, and Alonissos at 20%,” said company agent Haris Karacharisis. In July, weekend sailings were at 80–90% capacity, while weekday sailings reached 60–70%.
The Speedrunner Jet departs Thessaloniki at 09:30 on weekdays and 08:30 on Saturdays. Return trips are at 14:35 from Alonissos, 15:00 from Skopelos, and 15:45 from Skiathos, with Sunday-only returns during weekends.
From September 1 to 9, sailings to the Sporades will be reduced from five per week to one per week, with the season ending on September 9. Ticket prices remain at 2024 levels, with a 50% discount for students.
The Thessaloniki–Sporades service, which carried over 60,000 passengers last year, is subsidised with €3.41 million by the Ministry of Maritime Affairs and Insular Policy in cooperation with the Regions of Central Macedonia and Thessaly.
