Italy ranks first, Greece second, Türkiye third in Interreg NEXT

Interreg NEXT Cross-Border Cooperation in the Mediterranean Basin Programme, one of the highest budgeted programmes of the European Union (EU), received the highest number of applications from Italy, while Greece ranked second and Türkiye third.
Türkiye, which participated in the programme for the first time this year, ranked third in terms of the highest number of project applications in all categories.
Within the programme conditions, 463 institutions and organisations from Türkiye submitted their project proposals. With 501 institutions and organisations, Greece came second and Italy came first with 669 institutions and organisations.
The second call of the €80 million Mediterranean Programme, which will focus on green transformation projects, will start receiving applications in the second half of 2024.
According to the written statement made by the Directorate for EU Affairs, Interreg NEXT Cross-Border Cooperation in the Mediterranean Basin Programme, one of the highest budget programmes of the EU, is being implemented with the participation of 15 countries and co-financed by the EU.
