Greece-Türkiye hackathon opens applications for young innovators
Applications have opened for the Greece-Türkiye Hackathon Innovation Competition, bringing together young people aged 18-35 from both countries to develop joint projects focused on technology, entrepreneurship, and innovation.
The competition is organized through cooperation between Greece’s Ministry of Digital Governance and Artificial Intelligence, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Türkiye’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Ministry of Industry and Technology, Bilişim Vadisi, and the Athens Entrepreneurship Hub (THEA) under the Athens Chamber of Commerce and Industry (ACCI).
The initiative aims to strengthen innovation, entrepreneurship, and cross-border cooperation among young innovators from Greece and Türkiye by encouraging the development of joint technology-based solutions.
This year’s hackathon will focus on artificial intelligence, with participants expected to create innovative solutions in areas including health and biotechnology, disaster-resilient smart cities, sustainable agriculture, personalized travel, and smart tourism.
University students, young entrepreneurs, and researchers between the ages of 18 and 35 from Greece and Türkiye are eligible to apply. Applications from Greece will be evaluated by THEA, while selected teams from both countries will participate in a joint collaboration process.
Following the selection phase, 20 teams from each country will be matched to form 20 mixed international teams. With the support of mentors from both countries, participants will develop their projects, which will later be evaluated by a joint jury.
The semi-finals of the competition will take place in Athens on November 26-27, while the final and award ceremony will be held in Istanbul on December 3-4.
The application deadline has been set for September 11. The top three teams in the competition will receive cash prizes for their innovative projects.
