A lorry caught fire on the Egnatia Motorway between Alexandroupoli and Komotini at noon today. The fire caused material damage to the lorry.
A lorry travelling from Alexandroupoli towards Komotini suddenly started to burn while driving on the motorway between Dikilitaş and Hasanlar villages.
It was stated by eyewitnesses passing by the motorway that the incident occurred around 15.30. Upon receiving the news of the fire, the road safety team of the Egnatia Company, which is responsible for the motorway, went to the scene in a short time and took precautions by creating a security lane.
The fire started in the area of the rear wheels and grew bigger as the minutes passed. As a result of the inadequate interventions when the fire started, material damage occurred in the vehicle.
There is no clear information about what was inside the burning lorry and which country it belonged to.
