The multi-pronged assault by Iran's Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) came just hours after the United States carried out "self-defense" airstrikes on Iranian military facilities near the Strait of Hormuz.

Washington initiated those strikes in response to the downing of an American Apache attack helicopter in the area on Monday night.

IRGC said it attacked 21 American military targets across the region in response to the U.S. operation. The group claimed long-range missiles struck key facilities at Jordan's Al-Azraq base, while separate attacks targeted Ali Al Salem Air Base in Kuwait and the U.S. Fifth Fleet in Bahrain.

Iran says more attacks will follow any new US action

Jordan's military said it intercepted five missiles heading toward the Al-Azraq area and reported no casualties or material damage from falling debris. Kuwait's army also reported intercepting "hostile" aerial targets without providing further details.

In neighboring Bahrain, the Interior Ministry announced the activation of warning sirens nationwide, signaling heightened security measures as the confrontation widened.

The attacks came after Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi warned that Tehran would not leave any attack unanswered.

"Our Powerful Armed Forces will leave no attack or threat unanswered. Leave our region if you want to be safe," Araghchi wrote on X.

The IRGC warned that it was prepared to deliver a "crushing and decisive" response to any additional military action and said U.S. forces would bear responsibility for the consequences. The military also claimed it had shot down a U.S. MQ-9 drone over Iran's southern Bushehr province.

US hits southern Iran after Apache shootdown

Earlier Tuesday, U.S. Central Command (CENTCOM) launched attacks on Iranian military targets after a U.S. Army Apache helicopter was reportedly brought down while patrolling near the Strait of Hormuz. The two crew members were rescued off the coast of Oman.

President Donald Trump said Washington had no choice but to act, describing the military action as a "very strong" and "very powerful" response to the incident. Iranian authorities later reported that Jask, Sirik and Qeshm in the country's south were among the areas struck.

According to CENTCOM, Air Force and Navy fighter jets used precision-guided munitions to take out air defense systems, ground control stations and radar facilities near the Strait of Hormuz. The military described the action as a proportional response to recent attacks on American forces and commercial vessels in regional waters.

The command later announced that the operation had concluded, adding that U.S. forces remain "vigilant and postured to defend against unjustified Iranian aggression."
