WTMUGA condemns actions of appointed muftis
In a statement released on Saturday, October 12, WTMUGA denounced the behavior of the appointed Muftis from Xanthi, Komotini, and Didymoteicho, who attempted to enter the Çınar Mosque during Friday prayers on October 11, despite the clear disapproval of the Muslim Turkish Minority.
The statement highlighted that the appointed officials' actions were carried out despite their awareness of the minority's long-standing opposition to state interference in the selection of their religious leaders, describing the incident as a deliberate provocation.
"We strongly condemn this provocative act and once again emphasize that we expect these and similar attempts, which disregard the will of the Western Thrace Turkish Minority, to cease immediately," the statement read.
WTMUGA reiterated that the community stands united in its rejection of any actions that undermine its religious autonomy and called for respect towards the minority's chosen religious leaders.
