Western Thrace Turkish Youth unite at annual Eid gathering in Türkiye
Western Thrace Turkish youth studying in Türkiye gathered in large numbers for the fourth annual “Young NGOs Eid Dinner,” a student-led event that has become a key platform for strengthening community ties and cultural identity.
Organized by members of the Western Thrace Student Union, the event brought together students and guests from multiple cities, with coordination led by teams in Istanbul and Ankara.
A Growing Tradition of Unity
The gathering highlighted solidarity among young people of Western Thrace origin, who came together to celebrate Eid and reinforce shared cultural and social bonds. Organizers emphasized that the event has now become a tradition, reflecting a strong sense of belonging among diaspora youth.
In a joint statement, organizers noted: “We are proud to reunite with our youth and respected elders who carry the love of Western Thrace in their hearts.”
High-Level Participation
The event drew prominent figures from diplomatic, religious, and political circles. Among the attendees were Aykut Ünal and his spouse, as well as Mustafa Trampa and İbrahim Şerif.
Also present were Özgür Ferhat, Işık Sadık Ahmet, and Sedat Hasan, along with numerous civil society representatives.
Strong Engagement from Youth Organizations
The event saw broad participation from youth and civil society groups, including FEP Youth and the “New Generation” branch of the Komotini Turkish Youth Union. Students from across Türkiye attended, using the occasion to reconnect and strengthen their shared identity.
