Western Thrace Turkish Minority to also be on the agenda during the Ankara meeting
According to the information obtained from diplomatic sources, Mitsotakis will visit Türkiye tomorrow in response to the invitation of President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan.
During the visit, the steps that can be taken to increase the trade volume between the two countries, which is close to 6 billion dollars, to 10 billion dollars within the framework of the common goal set by the leaders of both countries will be evaluated.
It is envisaged that the issues concerning the Turkish Minority in Western Thrace and Turkish compatriots in Rhodes, Kos and Thessaloniki will be brought to the agenda.
During the visit, the facilitated visa at the door procedure, which has been implemented since 30 March for Turkish citizens travelling to 10 Greek islands, will also be discussed, and the continuation of the process will also be discussed.
It is planned that the leading business people of the two countries will come together under the roof of the newly established "Joint Business Council".
During the talks, it is aimed to continue the Joint Action Plan for the development of cooperation in various fields such as transport, science, technology, agriculture, tourism, health and human relations, especially the economy, on the basis of a positive agenda.
During the visit, which is planned to review the cooperation in the fight against terrorism and expectations on these issues, the joint fight against irregular migration and cooperation in this field will be discussed.
Turkey's views on regional and international developments, particularly the Israeli-Palestinian conflict, are expected to be conveyed.
In addition to the 15 agreements signed in various fields during President Erdoğan's visit to Greece on 7 December 2023, it is on the agenda to sign agreements on "Health and Medical Sciences and Disaster and Emergency Management" during Prime Minister Mitsotakis' visit.
A joint statement is planned to be made by Turkish President Erdoğan and Prime Minister Mitsotakis during the visit, reflecting the positive trend in the relations between the two countries.
