Western Thrace delegation attends religious studies center opening in Edirne
The 3rd Term opening ceremony of the Religious Specialization Center under the Diyanet Academy of Turkey’s Presidency of Religious Affairs was held in Edirne on 14 April 2025. The event began with speeches by Dr. Tevfik İşcen, Director of the Edirne Religious Specialization Center, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Enver Osman Kaan, President of the Diyanet Academy, and Yunus Sezer, Governor of Edirne.
The opening was attended by representatives from the mufti offices of Komotini and Xanthi. Representing Komotini Mufti İbrahim Şerif, Deputy Mufti Fehim Ahmet and Erol Yoluç, President of the Association of Religious Officials of Western Thrace Mosques, were present. Representing the Xanthi Mufti and President of the Western Thrace Turkish Minority Advisory Board, Mustafa Trampa, a delegation led by Hamdi Bekir, President of the Religious Officials Association of Xanthi, included preachers Hüseyin Velibaşa, Hasan Hacıhasanoğlu, and Eyüp Aguşoğlu.
Hamdi Bekir conveyed greetings from Mufti Trampa and expressed well wishes for the newly inaugurated institution. He also thanked the hosts for their warm hospitality.
REGIONAL AND INTERNATIONAL ENGAGEMENT
During the program, the Western Thrace delegation had the opportunity to meet and exchange ideas with the Academy President, the Director of the Religious Specialization Center, the provincial muftis of Edirne and Kırklareli, the district mufti of Babaeski, and muftis from Bulgaria.
In addition, Deputy Mufti Fehim Ahmet and Erol Yoluç held conversations with Hasan Gümüş, Founding President of the Mimar Sinan Foundation in Edirne, Prof. Dr. Mustafa Şentürk, Head of the Edirne Branch of the Presidency for Turks Abroad and Related Communities (YTB), and other longtime colleagues and friends.
