U.S. Military Cargo Ship “ARC Commitment” arrives at Dedeağaç Port – Offloads helicopters and vehicles

The U.S. military cargo vessel ARC Commitment docked this week at the strategically important port of Dedeağaç, arriving from Jacksonville, Florida.

The ship’s arrival forms part of the ongoing U.S. and NATO logistical operations in the region, which use Dedeağaç as a key hub for the transport and deployment of military equipment.

Owned by American Roll-On Roll-Off Carrier Group Inc. (ARC) — operator of the largest U.S.-flagged Roll-on/Roll-off (Ro-Ro) fleet — the ARC Commitment carried and unloaded a range of military vehicles, containers, and helicopters.

The helicopters were assembled on-site before being transported to the city’s airport for further use and distribution.

At 227.8 meters in length and with a cargo capacity of up to 320 metric tons, the ARC Commitment is one of the most capable maritime transport assets supporting the U.S. Department of Defense and NATO.

Since 2021, the ship has been U.S.-flagged and registered under the Maritime Security Program (MSP) — a strategic U.S. government initiative ensuring that certain commercial vessels can be made immediately available to the Department of Defense during crises or military operations.

This designation enables the vessel to provide rapid sealift capability and logistical support to the U.S. military and federal agencies whenever required.
