Tsipras expressed his concerns over the minority debate to PM

SYRIZA leader Alexis Tsipras visited the election government Prime Minister Yannis Sarmas on Monday 12 June to discuss his discomfort with the recent events in Western Thrace regarding the minority and deputies.

In a statement after the meeting, Alexis Tsipras said that he was very concerned about Kyriakos Mitsotakis' decision to use the vulnerable situation of the Muslim minority in Thrace in the pre-election debate, adding that "an important national and institutional problem arises" with these data.

Tsipras said that he expressed his concerns about targeting and threatening the “Greek Muslim minority” to the Prime Minister, adding, “It is a method that divides, polarizes and can create significant national risks. This is an application that rubs Ankara's hand."

Referring to the National Intelligence Service (EYP), Tsipras expressed his concerns about the instrumentalization of the EYP.

Tsipras said, “The prime minister of the election government is responsible for the EYP, which has served the interests of Mr. Mitsotakis with illegal wiretaps in the last four years.” Said it was an app.

Tsipras continued: "I also expressed my concerns about this rude threat and targeting tactic.
Turkish influence on the Muslim minority in Thrace, and especially on the Muslim minority in Thrace, cannot be resolved by targeting or dividing.

It can be solved by strengthening equality before the law in Thrace. It can be solved with the decisions we took jointly in the inter-party Thrace Development Commission established in 2020.

Touching upon the statements of Dora Bakoyannis in Rhodope, Tsipras emphasized that these statements are not only an issue that concerns Thrace, but also every social group and every Greek citizen.

"Bakoyannis's statements in front of the Muslim minority 'if you don't vote for us, you will have hard times in the next 4 years' is not something that only concerns Muslims.

The statements were deliberately made in front of the cameras to convey this message to every home, every Greek citizen and every social group.” Tsipras said that these statements are an indication that every social group and every citizen who has thoughts contrary to the uncontrollable party and family power will be targeted in the future.

Tsipras stated that both personally and as the SYRIZA party, they will stand against these behaviors that are against democracy, and they will be the guarantor of the rule of law and democracy, "Greece has a strong democracy, it will remain a strong democracy." made statements.
