Trakya University delegation visits Western Thrace
Trakya University has further expanded its efforts to strengthen scientific and cultural ties in the Balkans. A delegation led by Vice Rector Prof. Dr. Eylem Bayır conducted a series of visits and activities in the cities of Alexandroupoli (Dedeağaç), Komotini (Gümülcine), and Xanthi (İskeçe).
The delegation, which included Rector’s Advisor and Deputy Secretary General Assoc. Prof. Dr. Ali İhsan Meşe, along with faculty members and students from the Faculty of Education, first visited the Faculty of Education at Democritus University of Thrace in Dedeağaç. During the meeting, opportunities for cooperation were explored, focusing on student and staff exchanges under the Erasmus program and the development of joint academic projects between the two universities.
Following their engagements in Alexandroupoli, the delegation visited the Turkish Consulate General in Gümülcine. Discussions centered on potential scientific and cultural collaborations within the framework of Trakya University’s Balkan vision and mission.
The delegation also met with the Western Thrace Minority University Graduates Association. In this meeting, the needs and proposals of Western Thrace students studying at Trakya University were discussed. The university reiterated its commitment to strengthening regional relations and implementing joint projects.
The visit concluded with a classical music concert performed by chamber music and piano students under the direction of Dr. Özlem Tuzcu, faculty member of the Department of Music Education at Trakya University’s Faculty of Education. The concert took place at the Western Thrace Minority University Graduates Association’s Cultural Center in İskeçe.
