Traditional Eid celebrations at the Consulate General
The Eid al-Adha ceremony at the Consulate General of Türkiye in Komotini took place on Monday 17 June between 10:00 - 12:00.
Hundreds of kinsmen from the provinces of Komotini, Xanthi and Evros attended the Eid celebration ceremony. On the other hand, it was noteworthy that western Turkish citizens and Western Thrace Turks living abroad also participated in the Eid celebration ceremony.
Consul General Aykut Ünal and his wife İlayda Ünal exchanged Eid greetings with the participants one by one. Vice Consuls and consular staff also exchanged Eid greetings with the participants.
Cold drinks and desserts were served to the participants.
Rodopi MP Özgür Ferhat, Xanthi MPs Burhan Baran and Hüseyin Zeybek, President of the Consultative Committee of the Turkish Minority of Western Thrace and Mufti of Komotini İbrahim Şerif and Deputy Mufti Fehim Ahmet, Mufti of Xanthi Mustafa Trampa and Deputy Mufti Ahmet Hraloğlu, President of the Friendship Equality Peace Party Çiğdem Asafoğlu, President of the Western Thrace Turkish Teachers Union Aydın Ahmet, Mayor of Kozlukebir Erdem Hüseyin, Mayor of Mustafçova Ahmet Kurt, Mayor of Yassıköy Caner Imam, Mayor of Şapçı Maronya Apostolos Ioannu, Mayor of Komotini Yannis Garanis, deputy mayors and councillors, former MPs and mayors, municipal councillors from the minority, representatives of minority institutions and organisations and many kinsmen attended the event.
EID AL-ADHA CEREMONY IN MINORITY ORGANISATIONS
On the other hand, Eid al-Fitr ceremonies were also held in the organisations of the Turkish minority in Western Thrace. Ceremonies were organised at the Mufti's Office of Komotini, Mufti's Office of Xanthi, as well as at the Komotini Turkish Youth Union and BİHLİMDER.
A large number of compatriots flocked to the Eid celebration ceremony organised at the TTSU. The participants of the Eid ceremonies also had the opportunity to rest and cool off in the garden of GTGB due to the hot weather.
