Topsidis attends "Regional Inequalities and Development Perspectives" Panel at Thessaloniki 2025 Summit
Eastern Macedonia and Thrace Regional Governor Christodoulos Topsidis participated in the panel discussion "Regional Inequalities and Development Perspectives", held as part of the Thessaloniki 2025 Summit.
During his speech, Topsidis emphasized the need to focus on the strategic advantages of the region to reduce regional inequalities and enhance development opportunities. He highlighted that Eastern Macedonia and Thrace serve as a geostrategic bridge between the Balkans, Eastern Europe, the Black Sea, and the Eastern Mediterranean, offering significant potential for economic growth.
Topsidis also addressed the impact of Bulgaria's inclusion in the Schengen Area, stating that the removal of border controls is expected to create new economic and trade dynamics in the region. He pointed out key sectors with high development potential, including transportation, energy, agriculture, tourism, and culture.
Calling for a redesign of regional development policies, Topsidis stressed the importance of a comprehensive strategy that takes into account the unique needs and opportunities of each region. He concluded his speech by stating: "What matters today is ensuring that Eastern Macedonia and Thrace are at the heart of national development policies."

The Thessaloniki 2025 Summit is organized by the Hellenic Federation of Enterprises (SEV) and the Delphi Economic Forum. The event, which began on February 17, concludes today.
Bringing together policymakers, business leaders, and experts, the summit focuses on economic, political, and geostrategic developments in the Balkans, Southeastern Europe, and the Eastern Mediterranean. Held annually in Thessaloniki, the summit aims to foster regional cooperation and sustainable economic growth.
